Given its popularity, you have probably either played Minecraft, or at minimum seen it’s pixelated characters. You might not have known what it was, but get familiar, because Minecraft is coming to schools.
Minecraft has been used in education before, but Microsoft is taking the concept from idea, to full-fledged business model.
Minecraft Education Edition will differ from the game in a few ways but it’s not quite finished yet. The finish product is expected to allow students to collaborate and teachers to oversee progress all on a single server. There will also be a specific classroom interface.
The product will be sold on the subscription based model. But if you are a teacher, you may be eligible to test the beta version for free.
