The Indiana Department of Education released a report on the voucher program usage. The voucher program allows students to take state money allotted to every student, to schools of their choice, as opposed to just public schools.
According to the report, $131.5 million was spent on Indiana’s version of the school voucher program. Some critics allege that this is around $53 million more than would have been spent without a voucher program, as many students would have simply paid for private schools out of pocket.
The districts where students are taking advantage of the program varies greatly.
Indiana Public Media put together a map and chart to visualize the data better.
