Incidents involving the confederate flag at two separate Indiana schools have prompted debates and responses.
Some North Central students were caught on snap chat posing with the confederate flag with a caption that read, “Confederate lives matter”, likely in reference to the better known phrase “Black Lives Matter”.
To voice their displeasure, students and other concerned people decided to stage a protest at the North Central – Pike football game. The protest consisted of signs and the symbolic gesture of the day, kneeling during the anthem.
Bloomington High School North had to deal with students wearing the confederate flag draped around their shoulders in class on Wednesday. Since the incident, Principal Jeffry M. Henderson has decided to ban the flags, citing a “substantial disruption to the educational environment,”
These issues are not only taking place at Indiana schools. Many schools around the country are dealing with the fall out of current events and the subsequent reaction to those events on a daily basis.
