In 2016 Indiana’s graduation rate was 89 percent according to the Indiana Department of Education figures released onThursday. In 2015 the graduation rate was 88.8 percent.
That rate is up from 78 percent in 2006. However it’s worth noting that not every Indiana diploma is created equal. It’s unclear how many students graduated with general diplomas and how many graduated with “Core 40” diplomas.
The achievement gap was on full display in the latest results. 91 percent of white students graduated. However, only 80 percent of black students graduated.
