School shootings are on the rise in the United States. This past school year, the US averaged almost a shooting per week. Suggestions on what to do about school shootings have ranged from more gun control to better psychological evaluation.
Indiana is now offering another method to crack down on school violence: metal detectors. Gov. Eric Holcomb announced via online video that “The state will provide metal detector wands at no cost to every school that requests them. Gov. Holcomb then went on to talk about the number of applications and grant requests the Indiana Department of Homeland Security received and emphasized that every request that meets the requirements will be funded.
