It’s a four-letter word that means so much. It is described as a strong affection for another. It is an affection based on admiration. The Bible says that it is kind and patient. Love is something that bounds together both emotions that are strong and positive. Love is something that is surface level and public, or it is something that is deep and personal? Love sometimes is what makes the world go around. Love brings out the best.
How do you lead people you don’t love?
This is a question that people in leadership should ask themselves. As a leader, you must have the love for the people that follow you. As their leader, they are looking for you to make the right decisions. They are looking to you for that guidance. As their leader, you must have them follow you. A person who feels “loved” by their leader is more likely to see their leaders as a good leader and be willing to follow them.
Love brings out the passion in leaders.
Through love, the leader develops a passion. Passion is that positive energy that a leader brings to their followers. Not only do they bring it to their followers, but they get it out of them as well. Passion comes off as enthusiasm for the work, and that enthusiasm is contagious; those following that leader will feed off of it. You know if a leader has love by merely being able to identify if they are passionate. They must have the passion for the service. The service of others is what makes a great leader. That passion for service is loving those you are leading.
Constantly stay in love.
When you love something, you never want to disappoint it. You never shortchange the effort. Leadership is about staying in love. When you remain in love with leadership, that allows you to motivate people to be their best. Staying in love encourages you to help those following you. Love is what separate top-tier leaders from average leaders. Love allows you to ignite other people. Leaders who are in love are motivated to outwork other people. The love that you feel will enable you to accomplish great things.
Love is a powerful and positive feeling that a person can have. Any leader will tell you that when you find something you love there is no greater feeling. Love allows you to excel. Love is the most lasting leadership traits. Love is something that gets you through. Love is there on bad days, and love is there on good days. I think it is time to put love back into leadership. Love is what allows you to put in the work necessary to do great things. It won’t always be easy as a leader, but the love that burns inside you will allow you to manage it. James Kouzes says, “Love is not an affair of the head, but an affair with the heart.”
Leaders fall in love and watch how much of a better leader you will become.
