“BELIEVE THERE IS GOOD IN THE WORLD”
Today is World Kindness Day. On this day, we celebrate the kindness and what is right in the world. Today, people are encouraged to spread kindness. There is no such thing as a small act of kindness. Those small acts of kindness have a ripple effect that spreads to other people. So even if it is the most straightforward act, the impact it can have on someone can be great.
Now more than ever, it is important to teach students how to show kindness. School can be a place for many children that do feel the happiness they should. Often school can be a cruel and cold place. How about we work a little harder this year to encourage kindness across our school. Here are three ways to spread kindness in your school.
- Write a kindness note.
How cool would it be to walk around the school and see notes displayed everywhere of kindness? A kindness note can be something one person says to another, or it could be a simple quote that speaks on the importance of kindness. This year, encourage your school to have a place where scholars can display random acts of kindness.
- Make a new friend.
Try to encourage students to make new friends. There is nothing wrong with having a group of friends, but I always tell my students to seek out new friends actively. They will never know who they will come across that they vibe with until they reach out and try.
- Do random acts of kindness.
I teach my students to pay it forward. I encourage them to think about ways they can pay it forward in school. Paying it forward is a random act of kindness. Also, random acts of kindness are things done without the other person knowing what you are doing.
How have you shown kindness today?
