IPS initially planned to begin the school year on time. The first change came when the district decided to push the start date back to August 17. Now district administration will recommend to the IPS Board of School Commissioners that the 2020-21 school year begin remotely for all students on the new start date.
In the announcement released by IPS, the district will provide an i-pad for Pre-K-2 students and Chromebooks for students in grades 3-12. Unlike before, the buildings will not be completely closed. They will be open with learning hubs for students to receive help with work. Students will also be able to receive supports for services such as therapy.
The IPS Board of School Commissioners will vote on this recommendation on July 30 at the board action session.
