Washington Township is following in the footsteps of fellow Indianapolis district, IPS. Beginning Monday, August 16, all staff and students, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear masks.
The school board voted in favor of the change during the August 11 school board meeting. Although Marion County is not requiring masks in schools at this time, due to the rise in positive COVID-19 rates in Marion County, Washington Township decided to update its COVID-19 guidance to provide the most safe environment for its staff and students.
Students that travel to school by bus already had to wear masks on the school bus due to a federal mandate. The district has provided an update of its guidance on its website.
This guidance also extends to visitors to any MSDWT campus. COVID-19 guidance is frequently updated by districts. For the latest guidance, start with the school district’s website.
