Rumors began to swirl in Pike Township last month that Dr. Reichanadter had not been seen in the district. Her last tweet for the district took place on December 3, 2021, when she shared a joint letter with Chris Ludy, Pike Township Teacher Association President, to address the contentious contract negotiations and staff absences that led to numerous virtual days.
Reichanadter typically tweeted updates about when the district would switch to virtual learning due to staff absences. Although there have been remote learning days since December 3, she was no longer sharing updates. Instead, the updates came from the district’s official social media account.
Families in the district felt the impact of schools being closed for in-person learning on short notice due to absent teachers and bus drivers. This led to a petition being circulated requesting the superintendent be removed. The petition had 2,883 signatures.
Last night, the district announced that Reichanadter was out as superintendent and that Dr. Larry Young, the assistant superintendent of operations, would be the interim superintendent for the remainder of the school year.
The school board is working with Reichanadter’s legal counsel to work out a separation agreement.
