At tonight’s school board meeting Assistant Superintendent Dr. Sean Taylor requested that the school board eliminate the mask mandate in Washington Township. This recommendation comes after the Indiana Department of Health released updated COVID-19 guidance for the K-12 setting.
After a few follow-up questions and clarifications about what the complete changes would be, the board voted unanimously to eliminate the mandate.
Beginning Friday, February 24, masks will be optional for students and staff in Washington Township. Due to the federal mandate, staff and students will still be required to wear masks on the bus.
The district updated COVID-19 guidance will also eliminate contact tracing; however, the district plans to still report positive cases they are aware of to IDOH.
Families will be notified later this evening via ParentSquare.
